Gluten Free Vitamins

All of Mollie Stone's vitamins are made without gluten or gluten-containing ingredients, except for the below mentioned list of four products which may contain gluten because of the oat content. In addition, our single pass air filtration system and stringent manufacturing practices eliminate the risk of cross-contamination from one manufacturing room to the other. All the equipment is cleaned between each batch of product.

For individuals who have celiac sprue, also known as celiac disease, non-tropical sprue, adult celiac disease or gluten-sensitive enteropathy, avoiding gluten containing products is essential. The disease manifests as a characteristic lesion of the small intestinal mucosa with actual or potential intestinal malabsorption of virtually all nutrients. Following withdrawal of gluten from the diet, prompt clinical improvement is usually seen.

A gluten-free diet eliminates wheat, rye, barley and oats. Buckwheat and millet are also excluded by some because of lack of reliable information about their gluten content. Individuals with celiac sprue should work with a registered dietitian to develop an appropriate nutritionally adequate eating plan.

Pamela's Products

It is currently believed that 1 in every 133 American's has Celiac Disease, a digestive disorder known as Gluten Intolerance. For these people, gluten is toxic. But what is gluten? The protein found in wheat, rye and barley, the part of the wheat that helps make breads and cakes fluffy, and other baked goods hold together, it's the part of the grain that allows for light and versatile baking. But for the almost 3 million American's with Celiac Disease gluten is toxic. However, Celiac Disease is easily treated with a gluten-free diet. That's all, no gluten and for most people their bodies will heal and they can live a normal, illness-free life (assuming all things being equal). In additional to those with Celiac Disease, there are new breakthroughs in the treatment of Autism that include a gluten-free and casein-free diet. Casein is the protein found in dairy foods, milk, cream, cheese, etc. (not eggs, those are from chickens). With the astounding rise in Autism, now believed to affect 1 in every 160 children, the need for gluten-free foods doubles from the Celiac Disease population alone. Again, using the gluten-free and casein-free diet is a lifelong diet that allows the body to heal. The people afflicted with these illnesses cannot ingest gluten (and casein for those with Autism), it is a lifelong diet. Of course no gluten means no bread, pizza, cookies, cake, pancakes.

When Pamela (yes there is a real Pamela) was growing up in her family bakery that made allergen-free foods, she learned early about people who could not eat wheat and wheat based products. As someone who loves cookies and desserts she couldn't imagine life without these delicious treats, she couldn't imagine being forced to eat the poor tasting foods she packing in her family's bakery. This was her inspiration and in 1988 she set out to create a line of products that were so incredibly delicious everyone would love them and they would be perfect for those with gluten intolerance. Now, 20 years later her products are some of the best selling products in their natural food categories, competing directly with wheat based products. The goal for Pamela and everyone at Pamela's Products is that people can enjoy delicious food and share together, that no one has to have "weird" food, and that everyone with gluten intolerance can heal and be more than what ails them. Celebrating food with friends and loved ones is one of the greatest joys in life, everyone should be able to do that!
